Teversal 5-0 Kirkby Town... or damn and blast and bugger it!!!

Blackwell are unable to host their traditional pre-season tournament due to the fact that their Primrose Hill ground is now Alfreton Town's training ground and the Conference outfit have spent a small fortune on the playing surface.

So Teversal took up the mantle and their inaugural tournament got off to a cracking start. Fine weather, good company and five goals made for a very pleasant evening out.

Was with Rob Waite throughout the game, and before kick off when the lady came around with the raffle, I didn't bother -  Rob did, taking the ticket I would have had. After telling me I should have bought one because " I'll win now" - he bloody well did!!!  £19.50 went into the wallet with me silently cursing and trying hard to show I wasn't in the least bit bothered..............damn and blast and bugger it!!!!!!

So onto the game, and although there was an obvious gulf in class between CML Kirkby and NCEL Teversal, Kirkby did ok for the first 20 minutes or so.  Even when GARY ATKINS opened the scoring for the home team on 21, Kirkby didn't let their heads drop and it took a couple of smart saves from keeper Scott Thompson to keep their lead intact.  H-T 1-0

Kirkby managed to keep Tevie at bay until the 68th minute when OLIVER TRIGG stabbed home from close range - soon after ATKINS side-footed home superbly from 15 yards after he was found by Trigg.

MARK ROBINSON had a simple tap in on 81 after a terrible defensive mix-up, the ROBINSON hammered home the fifth from distance with one minute left on the clock. F-T 5-0

No doubt Rob will have his take on things -- the66pow is always a good read...........
