Blidworth Welfare 3-2 Bulwell FC

Thursday 21st July PSF

CMFL South Division v NSL Senior Division

Went to Blidworth hoping to catch up with Dave Bramwell, but apparently he's no longer at Blidworth!

Add to this that the friendly was to be 3 x 30 minutes (a format that I can't get my head round) and we had club linesmen, I thought this evening was going to be something of a waste of time and effort.

But, as usual, I was proved wrong and I ended up in some good company and saw 5 goals - so all in all not too bad a night......

Both teams have changed dramatically over the closed season. Most of Blidworth's players have departed for pastures new. Manager Brett Marshall and Chairman Alan Whitworth also left the club leaving it slightly in the doldrums. However, they seem to have recruited well and gave a very strong Bulwell side a good game.  Bulwell have also seen wholesale changes - with most of the Arnold Cross Keys Sunday team now signed - along with the Cross Keys management team.

The scoring went as follows:

1st period
Bulwell -- 9 minutes Connor Carter header from a right wing cross

2nd period
11 minute Blidworth no. 5 Kyle Clarkeson tap in from close range
14 minutes Carter grabs his second
20 minutes Kyle Clarkeson again for Blidworth -  another tap in

3rd period
28th minute penalty converted for Blidworth by Meeham
